Gini Coefficient

Gini Coefficient is the dark and cerebral alter-ego of Greatest Lady Swimmers, which is the alter-ego of Ian Dowling and Ed Kenny.

Greatest Lady Swimmers bring you the party. Gini Coefficient bring you the noise. Quite literally.

In their unsettling productions, Gini Coefficient combine performance and music concrete: expressive synths and driving rhythms are offset by found sound and audio artefacts. From the dialectic, emerges a musical form attuned to lived and interfaced experience in the 21st century.

Release Notes

R.U.O.K. is structured around the recording of a Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) scanner. It asks you to picture the vulnerable human subject - gowned, headphoned, cold, unknowing - who lies flat within the tunnel of the machine as it maps what is already the case but not yet known. Under indifferent appraisal, the body will be condemned or reprieved. This is the sound of surveillance, a paradox: a score of magnetic fields and radio waves where fundamental questions of knowledge and being collide. At the intersection of man and machine, structure and improvisation, is a soundscape not just of anxiety and discomfort but solace, life itself and human action too.
